Vue Get Slot Props
- Props work in a very similar way to this. We pass props to another component, and that component can then use that value. But there are a couple rules you need to know about first. Two main characteristics of Vue props. There are two specific things to keep in mind when dealing with props: Props are passed down the component tree to descendents.
- In the provided CodeSandbox example, this file is named App.vue. The code shown here will serve as the foundation for displaying the components we will build. Next, we'll start building our components. In the example listed, there have been two components created in a folder named components. The first file we'll look at is UsrMsg.vue.
- Slots and props help us achieve this by making it easy to dynamically change the content of components. In simple terms, props are openings within a component that are filled with data. This means that when a component has a prop, it expects to get data from another component or view within which it is imported.
Scoped slots are one of Vue's most powerful features, but it can be a bit tricky to understand how they work when first learning about them.
When prop validation fails, Vue will produce a console warning (if using the development build). Note that props are validated before a component instance is created, so instance properties (e.g. Data, computed, etc) will not be available inside default or validator functions. A prop to apply a prefix or suffix to option labels. And now you have a select with 50 props. And there will still be something that someone wants to do with the component that isn’t covered by those props. So you can instead supply a slot for the options html, and pass the option data along with it to give the maximum configurability.
